He and I camped together as we traveled through the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County, California.
Readers of my bicycle tour blog last year may remember my entries about Jamie Ramsay, the 34-year-old Brit who was running from Vancouver BC to Buenos Aires, Argentina. His unsupported mileage was typically a marathon or so a day, pushing a jogging stroller with the gear he needed to last for a planned 600-day run. I first met Jamie in late August, 2014 (first blogged here 8/28/14) at Cape Lookout in southwest Washington, and last camped with him just a bit north of San Francisco, meaning that he was averaging nearly as many daily miles running as I was cycling!
Jamie and I even ran a 5K race at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park along the northern California coast.
Traveling with Jamie now and again, I considered myself honored to have met him. And at this point, nearly a year later, he’s on track, on route and on schedule. He’s currently south of Cali in southern Colombia, with the equatorial Andes coming up. The man is an excellent blogger – honest, forthright, engaging and a good writer. You may read of his travels at www.Jamieisrunning.com, and I encourage my readers to check out this amazing man’s journey.
